A classic and comforting Amish Apple Crisp recipe, perfect for a fall dessert.
Ingredients
- 4 tart apples, peeled
- 3/4 cup old fashioned oats
- 3/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup salted butter, cold
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Peel and thinly slice the apples. Place in a cake pan.
- In a bowl, combine oats, brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon. Cut in the cold butter until crumbly.
- Sprinkle the mixture over the apples.
- Bake for 40 minutes or until the apples are cooked through. Serve warm.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, you can add a pinch of nutmeg to the topping mixture.
- If your apples are very tart, you may want to add a tablespoon or two of granulated sugar to the apple slices before adding the topping.
- Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an extra treat.
