Description
A simple and flavorful recipe for baked salmon glazed with a sweet and tangy brown sugar, Dijon mustard, and soy sauce mixture.
Ingredients
- 2 salmon fillets (about 6-8 oz each), skin on or off
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp light brown sugar, packed
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tbsp soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
- 1 clove garlic, minced (or 1/2 tsp garlic powder)
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- Pinch of salt (optional, as soy sauce is salty)
- Fresh parsley or dill, chopped, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
- Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Rub the top and sides of each fillet lightly with olive oil. Season with a pinch of salt (if desired) and pepper.
- In a small bowl, whisk together brown sugar, Dijon mustard, soy sauce, and minced garlic (or garlic powder) until well combined.
- Place salmon fillets on the prepared baking sheet. Spoon or brush the brown sugar mixture evenly over the top of each salmon fillet.
- Bake for 12-18 minutes, depending on the thickness of your salmon and your desired doneness. Salmon is typically done when it flakes easily with a fork and reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
- Once cooked, remove from oven. If desired, you can briefly broil for the last 1-2 minutes to caramelize the top further, watching carefully to prevent burning.
- Garnish with fresh chopped parsley or dill, if using. Serve immediately with your favorite side dishes like roasted asparagus, rice, or quinoa.
Notes
- Use low sodium soy sauce to better control the saltiness, especially since the glaze contains sugar.
- Watch carefully if you choose to broil, as the sugar in the glaze can burn quickly.
- Salmon thickness greatly affects cooking time; thicker fillets will require longer baking.
