Description

A simple and flavorful recipe for baked salmon glazed with a sweet and tangy brown sugar, Dijon mustard, and soy sauce mixture.

Ingredients

  • 2 salmon fillets (about 6-8 oz each), skin on or off
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
  • 1 clove garlic, minced (or 1/2 tsp garlic powder)
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Pinch of salt (optional, as soy sauce is salty)
  • Fresh parsley or dill, chopped, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
  2. Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Rub the top and sides of each fillet lightly with olive oil. Season with a pinch of salt (if desired) and pepper.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together brown sugar, Dijon mustard, soy sauce, and minced garlic (or garlic powder) until well combined.
  4. Place salmon fillets on the prepared baking sheet. Spoon or brush the brown sugar mixture evenly over the top of each salmon fillet.
  5. Bake for 12-18 minutes, depending on the thickness of your salmon and your desired doneness. Salmon is typically done when it flakes easily with a fork and reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
  6. Once cooked, remove from oven. If desired, you can briefly broil for the last 1-2 minutes to caramelize the top further, watching carefully to prevent burning.
  7. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley or dill, if using. Serve immediately with your favorite side dishes like roasted asparagus, rice, or quinoa.

Notes

  • Use low sodium soy sauce to better control the saltiness, especially since the glaze contains sugar.
  • Watch carefully if you choose to broil, as the sugar in the glaze can burn quickly.
  • Salmon thickness greatly affects cooking time; thicker fillets will require longer baking.
