Ingredients
- 1 (12 ounce) package white chocolate chips
- 1 tbsp shortening
- 1 (14 ounce) package caramel candies, unwrapped
- 2 tbsp milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 large Granny Smith apple, cored and thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Melt white chocolate chips and shortening in a microwave-safe bowl, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth.
- Spread melted white chocolate onto the prepared baking sheet in a thin, even layer.
- Refrigerate until set, about 15-20 minutes.
- While the white chocolate is setting, melt caramel candies with milk in a separate microwave-safe bowl, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth. Stir in vanilla extract.
- Carefully remove the white chocolate layer from the refrigerator.
- Pour the melted caramel over the white chocolate and spread evenly.
- Arrange apple slices on top of the caramel layer. Sprinkle with chopped pecans, if using.
- Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or until the caramel is firm enough to cut.
- Break or cut into pieces before serving.
Notes
- Ensure the white chocolate and caramel are smooth and lump-free before layering.
- Thinly sliced apples will set better and be easier to cut through.
- Pecans add a nice crunch, but you can substitute other nuts or omit them.
