Description

A festive and easy-to-make cheese ball shaped like a Christmas tree, perfect for holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red bell pepper
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped green onions (white and green parts)
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • For coating/decoration:
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
  • Small pretzel sticks or a breadstick for the tree trunk
  • Small yellow bell pepper cut into a star shape, or a star cracker/cheese cut-out for the top

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth and creamy.
  2. Add the shredded cheddar cheese, Monterey Jack cheese, chopped red bell pepper, green onions, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well combined.
  3. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the cheese mixture for at least 30 minutes to firm up slightly, making it easier to shape.
  4. On a large piece of parchment paper or plastic wrap, form the chilled cheese mixture into a conical Christmas tree shape.
  5. In a shallow dish, combine the finely chopped fresh parsley and chopped pecans/walnuts (if using).
  6. Gently roll the cheese ball ‘tree’ in the parsley/pecan mixture, pressing to adhere, until completely coated.
  7. Carefully transfer the cheese tree to a serving platter.
  8. Insert a small pretzel stick or piece of a breadstick into the base of the tree to create a trunk.
  9. Place the yellow bell pepper star or star cracker/cheese cut-out on top of the tree.
  10. Serve with an assortment of crackers, pita chips, or vegetable sticks.

Notes

  • Ensure the cream cheese is fully softened for smooth mixing.
  • Chilling time is crucial for shaping the tree effectively.
  • Pecans or walnuts add a nice crunch to the coating, but are optional.
  • Serve immediately after decorating or keep refrigerated until ready to serve.
