A festive and easy-to-make cheese ball shaped like a Christmas tree, perfect for holiday gatherings.
Ingredients
- 2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- 1/4 cup finely chopped red bell pepper
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped green onions (white and green parts)
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- For coating/decoration:
- 1/2 cup finely chopped fresh parsley
- 1/4 cup finely chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
- Small pretzel sticks or a breadstick for the tree trunk
- Small yellow bell pepper cut into a star shape, or a star cracker/cheese cut-out for the top
Instructions
- In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth and creamy.
- Add the shredded cheddar cheese, Monterey Jack cheese, chopped red bell pepper, green onions, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well combined.
- Cover the bowl and refrigerate the cheese mixture for at least 30 minutes to firm up slightly, making it easier to shape.
- On a large piece of parchment paper or plastic wrap, form the chilled cheese mixture into a conical Christmas tree shape.
- In a shallow dish, combine the finely chopped fresh parsley and chopped pecans/walnuts (if using).
- Gently roll the cheese ball ‘tree’ in the parsley/pecan mixture, pressing to adhere, until completely coated.
- Carefully transfer the cheese tree to a serving platter.
- Insert a small pretzel stick or piece of a breadstick into the base of the tree to create a trunk.
- Place the yellow bell pepper star or star cracker/cheese cut-out on top of the tree.
- Serve with an assortment of crackers, pita chips, or vegetable sticks.
Notes
- Ensure the cream cheese is fully softened for smooth mixing.
- Chilling time is crucial for shaping the tree effectively.
- Pecans or walnuts add a nice crunch to the coating, but are optional.
- Serve immediately after decorating or keep refrigerated until ready to serve.
