Description

A festive and flavorful cheese ball featuring the sweet and tart combination of cranberries and walnuts with the rich, nutty flavor of Gouda cheese.

Ingredients

  • 250 g (8 oz) softened plain cream cheese
  • 1 cup shredded old / sharp white cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded gouda cheese
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts (divided)
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped dried cranberries (divided)
  • 3/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 3/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 2 tbsp minced chives
  • 2 tbsp cranberry wine / red wine mustard

Instructions

  1. To a bowl add softened cream cheese, shredded white cheddar cheese, shredded gouda cheese, ¼ cup finely chopped walnuts, ¼ cup finely chopped dried cranberries, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, minced chives and cranberry wine mustard. Mix well to combine.
  2. Put the cheese mixture into the fridge for 10-15 minutes – this will help make it easier to shape into a cheese ball.
  3. To a plate add the remaining finely chopped walnuts and finely chopped dried cranberries.
  4. Remove the cheese ball from the fridge and use your hands to form the mixture into a ball.
  5. Roll the cheeseball in the walnuts and dried cranberries until evenly coated.
  6. Place the cheeseball into the fridge again for at least 15 minutes or until ready to serve (up to one day).
  7. Take out of the fridge at least 30 minutes before serving and enjoy with your favourite crackers or crostini!

Notes

  • For a smoother coating, ensure the walnuts and cranberries are finely chopped.
  • The cheese ball can be made up to one day in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
  • Allow the cheese ball to come to room temperature for at least 30 minutes before serving for optimal flavor and texture.
