Description
A rich and creamy hot chocolate made easily in a slow cooker, perfect for gatherings.
Ingredients
- 6 cups milk (2% or whole)
- 1.5 cups heavy whipping cream (or 1/2 pint)
- 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk (or 6 ounces/1/2 can)
- 1-2 cups milk chocolate chips (or semi-sweet, or 1 cup semi-sweet chips plus 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt and cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
- Combine milk, heavy whipping cream, sweetened condensed milk, chocolate chips, and vanilla extract in a 5-quart crock pot (or larger if doubling).
- If using cocoa powder, whisk it in thoroughly to dissolve.
- Cover and cook on low for 1.5-2 hours, stirring occasionally with a whisk until the mixture is hot and chocolate chips are completely melted. (Do not recommend cooking on high heat).
- Once heated through and chocolate is melted, switch the slow cooker to the warm setting. Stir again before serving.
- Add a pinch of salt and cinnamon if desired.
- Garnish individual cups with whipped cream or marshmallows.
Notes
- Do not recommend cooking on high heat.
- Ensure cocoa powder is thoroughly whisked to avoid clumps.
- Adjust the amount of chocolate chips to your preference.
- For a richer flavor, consider using a combination of milk and semi-sweet chocolate chips.
