Description

A rich and creamy hot chocolate made easily in a slow cooker, perfect for cozy gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 6 cups milk (2% or whole milk recommended)
  • 1/2 pint heavy cream (or heavy whipping cream)
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 6 ounces sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Optional: pinch of salt, pinch of cinnamon, mini marshmallows or whipped cream for topping


Instructions

  1. Combine 6 cups milk, 1/2 pint heavy cream, 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, 1/4 cup cocoa powder, 6 ounces sweetened condensed milk and 1 teaspoon vanilla in a slow cooker over low heat. (Do not recommend cooking on high heat.)
  2. Cook until the chocolate has melted, about 1 1/2 – 2 hours. Stir a couple times during cooking. Add a pinch of salt and cinnamon if desired.
  3. Turn to the warm setting until ready to serve. Stir and then ladle into glasses.
  4. Top with mini marshmallows or whipped cream if desired. Serve while warm.

Notes

  • Do not recommend cooking on high heat.
  • Stir occasionally while cooking.
  • Serve warm.
  • Optional toppings include mini marshmallows or whipped cream.
