Description
Easy Sloppy Joe Sliders are mini sandwiches made with ground beef in a tangy sauce, layered on Hawaiian sweet rolls with melted provolone cheese, baked to perfection for a crowd-pleasing appetizer or snack.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 medium onion, finely diced
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 12 Hawaiian sweet rolls
- 6-8 slices provolone cheese (or your preferred meltable cheese), divided
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar (for glaze)
- 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (for glaze)
- 1/2 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and diced onion over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onion is softened. Drain off any excess fat.
- Stir in the minced garlic, ketchup, 2 tablespoons brown sugar, 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 4-5 minutes, allowing the mixture to thicken.
- Slice the entire slab of Hawaiian rolls horizontally without separating them. Place the bottom halves of the rolls in a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Layer half of your cheese slices over the bottom rolls. Spoon the sloppy joe meat mixture evenly over the cheese.
- Place the remaining cheese slices over the meat, then top with the upper halves of the Hawaiian rolls.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, Dijon mustard, 1 teaspoon brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, and sesame seeds (if using) to create a glaze.
- Pour or brush this glaze evenly over the tops of the assembled sliders.
- Bake for approximately 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the tops of the rolls are lightly golden.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- Use any meltable cheese you prefer instead of provolone.
- Sesame seeds are optional for added texture.
- These sliders are best served fresh but can be reheated in the oven.
