Description
Tender and flavorful slow cooker chicken drumsticks coated in BBQ seasoning and sauce, with an optional broiling step for crispy skin.
Ingredients
- 8-10 chicken drumsticks (about 3-4 lbs)
- 2 tbsp BBQ seasoning (your favorite blend)
- 2 cups BBQ sauce (your preferred brand, plus extra for serving)
- Nonstick cooking spray
Instructions
- Prepare your slow cooker by coating the interior with nonstick spray.
- Generously rub the BBQ seasoning all over each chicken drumstick, ensuring good coverage.
- Arrange the seasoned drumsticks in layers within the slow cooker. Pour 2 cups of your chosen BBQ sauce over the chicken, gently tossing to ensure all pieces are coated.
- Cover the slow cooker with its lid. Cook on the LOW setting for 5-6 hours, or on the HIGH setting for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is very tender and cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F/74°C).
- For crispy skin, an optional step is to preheat your broiler. Carefully remove the cooked drumsticks from the slow cooker and place them in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with foil and lightly sprayed with nonstick spray.
- Brush the drumsticks with additional BBQ sauce, if desired. Broil for 3-5 minutes, watching closely, until the edges begin to crisp and brown.
- Serve hot with any remaining sauce from the slow cooker, or with fresh BBQ sauce for dipping.
