Description
A simple and flavorful recipe for Garlic Butter Pork Chops, featuring tender pork chops seared to perfection and basted in a rich garlic butter sauce.
Ingredients
- 4 bone-in or boneless pork chops 1-inch thick
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter divided
- 4 cloves garlic minced
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme or rosemary
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley chopped for garnish optional
Instructions
- Pat pork chops dry with paper towels. Season generously with salt and black pepper on both sides.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet (cast iron preferred) over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- Add pork chops to the hot skillet. Sear for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and a crust has formed.
- Reduce heat to medium-low. Add 2 tablespoons of butter to the skillet along with the minced garlic and dried thyme/rosemary.
- As the butter melts baste the pork chops with the garlic butter for 2-3 minutes using a spoon.
- Flip the pork chops and add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter to the skillet. Continue basting for another 2-3 minutes or until the internal temperature of the pork reaches 145°F (63°C).
- Remove pork chops from the skillet and let them rest on a cutting board for 5 minutes before serving.
- Spoon any remaining garlic butter from the skillet over the pork chops. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
- For best results, use a cast iron skillet.
- Ensure pork chops are at room temperature before cooking for even searing.
- Internal temperature of 145°F (63°C) is recommended for pork.
