Description

Juicy and flavorful grilled chicken thighs coated in your favorite BBQ sauce, perfect for a summer cookout.

Ingredients

  • 8 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs (or boneless, skinless)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce, your favorite brand

Instructions

  1. Pat chicken thighs dry with paper towels.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Rub the chicken thighs all over with olive oil, then sprinkle generously with the spice mixture, ensuring they are well coated.
  4. Preheat your grill to medium heat (around 350-400°F or 175-200°C). Lightly oil the grill grates.
  5. Place chicken thighs skin-side down (if applicable) on the preheated grill. Grill for 7-10 minutes per side, turning occasionally, until nicely browned and grill marks appear.
  6. During the last 10-15 minutes of cooking, baste the chicken thighs generously with BBQ sauce, flipping and basting frequently to build up layers of sauce, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). For skin-on, cook mostly skin-side down to render fat, then flip to glaze.
  7. Remove from grill and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Using bone-in, skin-on thighs will result in a juicier and more flavorful chicken.
  • Adjust the amount of BBQ sauce to your preference.
  • Ensure chicken is cooked to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) for safety.
