Description
Juicy and flavorful grilled chicken thighs coated in your favorite BBQ sauce, perfect for a summer cookout.
Ingredients
- 8 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs (or boneless, skinless)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup BBQ sauce, your favorite brand
Instructions
- Pat chicken thighs dry with paper towels.
- In a small bowl, mix together smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Rub the chicken thighs all over with olive oil, then sprinkle generously with the spice mixture, ensuring they are well coated.
- Preheat your grill to medium heat (around 350-400°F or 175-200°C). Lightly oil the grill grates.
- Place chicken thighs skin-side down (if applicable) on the preheated grill. Grill for 7-10 minutes per side, turning occasionally, until nicely browned and grill marks appear.
- During the last 10-15 minutes of cooking, baste the chicken thighs generously with BBQ sauce, flipping and basting frequently to build up layers of sauce, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). For skin-on, cook mostly skin-side down to render fat, then flip to glaze.
- Remove from grill and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Using bone-in, skin-on thighs will result in a juicier and more flavorful chicken.
- Adjust the amount of BBQ sauce to your preference.
- Ensure chicken is cooked to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) for safety.
