Description

A classic recipe for soft and chewy Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Stir in the old-fashioned rolled oats and chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  7. Drop rounded spoonfuls of dough (about 1.5-2 tbsp each) onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches between cookies.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are still slightly soft.
  9. Let cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
