Ingredients
- 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ½ cup creamy peanut butter
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, beat the softened butter, peanut butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- On low speed, gradually add the dry flour mixture to the wet ingredients until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Stir in the chocolate chips using a spatula.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets.
- If desired, use a fork to gently press a crisscross pattern onto each cookie.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers are set.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Ensure butter and peanut butter are at room temperature for best creaming results.
- Do not overmix the dough once the flour is added to prevent tough cookies.
- Chilling the dough for 30 minutes before baking can help cookies spread less.
