A delicious and easy vegan apple crisp recipe with a buttery, crumbly topping.
Ingredients
- 4-5 medium apples (such as Gala, Fuji, or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup cold vegan butter, cut into small pieces
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Pour the apple mixture into an 8×8 inch baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, and salt.
- Cut in the cold vegan butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Sprinkle the crumb topping evenly over the apples.
- Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender and bubbly.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Serve warm with vegan vanilla ice cream or coconut whipped cream for an extra treat.
- Feel free to add other spices like ginger or cardamom to the apple mixture.
- For a nuttier topping, you can add 1/4 cup of chopped pecans or walnuts.
