Description

A delicious and easy vegan apple crisp recipe with a buttery, crumbly topping.

Ingredients

  • 4-5 medium apples (such as Gala, Fuji, or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup cold vegan butter, cut into small pieces

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Pour the apple mixture into an 8×8 inch baking dish.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, and salt.
  4. Cut in the cold vegan butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Sprinkle the crumb topping evenly over the apples.
  6. Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender and bubbly.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Serve warm with vegan vanilla ice cream or coconut whipped cream for an extra treat.
  • Feel free to add other spices like ginger or cardamom to the apple mixture.
  • For a nuttier topping, you can add 1/4 cup of chopped pecans or walnuts.
