Description

A festive and easy-to-make treat featuring popped popcorn coated in melted white chocolate and decorated with Christmas sprinkles and crushed peppermint candies.

Ingredients

  • 12 cups popped popcorn (about 1/2 cup unpopped kernels)
  • 12 ounces white chocolate melting wafers or good quality white chocolate chips
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract (optional)
  • 1/2 cup Christmas sprinkles (red, green, white)
  • 1/2 cup crushed peppermint candies or candy canes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or wax paper. Spread the popped popcorn evenly over the sheet. Pick out any unpopped kernels.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate wafers or chips. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until smooth and fully melted. Be careful not to overheat.
  3. If using, stir in the peppermint extract into the melted white chocolate.
  4. Drizzle the melted white chocolate evenly over the popcorn.
  5. Immediately sprinkle with Christmas sprinkles and crushed peppermint candies (if using), ensuring even distribution before the chocolate sets.
  6. Let the popcorn sit at room temperature for about 30-60 minutes, or refrigerate for 15-20 minutes, until the white chocolate is completely set.
  7. Once set, break the popcorn into clusters and serve. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.

Notes

  • Ensure the white chocolate is completely melted and smooth before drizzling.
  • Work quickly once the chocolate is melted to incorporate the sprinkles before it sets.
  • For best results, use high-quality white chocolate.
  • The peppermint extract is optional but adds a nice holiday flavor.
